Humanities in Care and Health

The Humanities in Care and Health Competence Center is rooted in the social sciences and humanities, with the aim of enriching the understanding of care practices, health trajectories, relationships between healthcare professionals and service users, and applied ethics.

Health cannot be reduced to its biomedical dimension alone. Insights from the social sciences make it possible to identify and analyse the social complexity of care and health, as well as their experiential dimension, grounded in the lived experiences and practices of beneficiaries. This Competence Center therefore focuses on the social, economic, and cultural determinants of health. To support this approach, HESAV draws on the diversity of its programmes and a strong culture of interdisciplinarity.
