The Haute École de Santé - Vaud (HESAV) is a higher education institution in the field of health sciences and a member of the HES-SO (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland). It is located in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the hospital district surrounding the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). HESAV is the main higher education institution for health professions in the canton of Vaud. It trains future health professionals, provides postgraduate and continuing education, and conducts applied research in health sciences.

HESAV offers a Preparatory Year for students wishing to enter a health-care Bachelor program.

HESAV delivers practice-oriented, scientifically grounded education that meets current and future needs of the health-care system. It plays a central role in training health professionals in the region, supports innovation in health care, and contributes to public health development through research and expertise.

Research at HESAV aims to gain a better understanding of the needs of both the population and healthcare professionals in order to improve patient safety, the quality of care, and the quality of education. To achieve this, we draw on the expertise of our four academic programmes: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Radiology Technology, Occupational Therapy and Midwifery, as well as on the social sciences and humanities. The findings of our research projects help inform public policy, advance professional practice, and support excellence in education.

Our teams combine their theoretical, methodological, and practical expertise to work collaboratively on current and emerging challenges. In this way, health and social issues are addressed through a cross-disciplinary approach, serving the needs of the population while supporting the development of healthcare professions and the healthcare system.
